1. HELP FOR PEOPLE IN OUR MANSTON / CROSS GATES NEIGHBOURHOOD:-
In terms of anyone in our locality / neighbourhood who is struggling because they have no family support, and are not able / not advised to go out themselves. Leeds City Council are working through the VOLUNTARY ACTION LEEDS Scheme – both to respond to individuals in need and to co-ordinate volunteers to help in their locality.
The important information is this:-
Help if you have to stay at home:– If you are, or someone you know is self-isolating and you / they do not have friends or family who live locally who can help, you can get help from Voluntary Action Leeds If you need help phone 0113 378 1877
If you wish to become a Volunteer wish Voluntary Action Leeds – to assist in our community. You can register on line or phone to speak with someone. By registering LCC have systems to ensure that volunteering is done as safely as possible – both for the volunteer and those receiving help. For more information email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0113 297 7920
You can find out more on Leeds City Council website following links under ‘Coronavirus: Find out what you need to know….’
2. HELP FOR OUR FOODBANKS & PEOPLE WHO NEED THEM:-
Through our church and school we have traditionally been generous in supporting our local foodbank and those who rely upon it. For some, this is more vital than ever. This foodbank (run from St Richard’s, Seacroft) is still functioning, as well as there being further systems in place to help the most vulnerable at other times. Obviously this good work still needs to be resourced. As we no longer have an open church building to act as a ‘drop off ‘ point for any food donations, if you would like to ‘drop off’ some food (after your own shopping or during a ‘daily exercise route’) at my address, then please contact me (on 0113 264 2685) to make an arrangement. I will ensure that any food donations received, reached their intended destination. Thank you – Rev’d Carolyn
